6-day theatre fest to pay tribute to Daya Prakash Sinha begins on Sunday

A six-day theatre festival will be organised in the city from Sunday. The fest will be held at Anatarng Hall, Bharat Bhavan. The theatre festival will be organised to give a tribute to Daya Prakash Sinha, former director of Bharat Bhavan.

To give a tribute to Daya Prakash Sinha the six-day theatre festival will be organised by National School of Drama (NSD), New Delhi and Rangmandal of Bharat Bhavan. The festival will begin from October 28 and will continue till November 2.

The theatre festival will be kicked off with the play Rakt Abhishek. The play is directed by Daya Prakash Sinha. The play will be performed on Sunday. Marking the second day of the theatre festival on Monday, play Samrat Ashoka will be performed. The play will be directed by Chitranjan Tripathi.

On the third day of the theatre festival, Hindi play Sada Aapka will be performed on Tuesday. The play will be directed by Gopal Sinha. On the fourth day of the theatre festival Katha Ek Kansa will be staged on Wednesday. It is directed by Arvind Sinha.

Marking the fifth day, play Apne Apne Dav Ki will be performed here on Thursday. The play is directed by Viren Basoya. To mark the closure of the theatre festival, play Sidiyaan will be performed here on Friday. The play is directed by Arvind Sinha.

Daya Prakash Sinha is a celebrated playwright and leader in the field of Indian theatre. As a playwright, director, and actor whose career has spanned about fifty years, Sinha is a foremost personality in Indian theatre today, with his plays being taught in the leading universities of India. His plays have been translated into several different languages and are popularly enacted by theatre groups all over the world. Many scholars have done Ph.D work over Sinha's plays.

He has been awarded some of the highest honors for his literary and dramatic achievements in Indian theatre, including the Chaman Lal Memorial Award for Lifetime Achievement in Theatre and the Sangeet Naatak Akademi Award for excellent in Indian theatre.
