After cleanest city tag, Chas soon to get a Hi-Tech Park

Residents of Chas will soon be able to enjoy their spare time at a park complete with several modern facilities. It was a happy moment for residents of Chas as the Chas Municipal Corporation (CMC) executive engineer JP Yadav along with Mayor Bholu Paswan and Deputy Mayor Avinash Kumar laid the foundation stone of a park at Bandhgora side area at Chas. 

Speaking on the occasion, the Mayor said, the park would come up with an estimated cost of Rs 1.06 crore under AMRUT (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation) scheme. “It will be a great place for children to play. We have planned to spend Rs 30.62 crore for overall development of Chas. Many other projects are underway,” he said.

Under the development plan, projects have been chosen with their priorities in the concerned wards. As soon as the project gets the approval by state high-level monitoring committee, the tender would be executed for the work, said Paswan.

CMC also prepared a work plan to construct a Town Hall with an estimated cost of Rs 10 crore. land has been identified in the ward no 31 for construction. Parking and Paver block would be constructed on both side of the roads form Dharamshala More to ITI more with an investment of Rs 1.50 crore, he informed.

“We are determined to cater to more facilities for all those living within municipal limits. These include better roads, round-the-clock drinking water facilities, better drainage system, parks, well-lit roads, timely disposal of garbage, installation of hand pumps, besides other amenities,” said the Mayor.

“Focus will be on core infrastructure services like adequate and clean water supply, sanitation and solid waste management, efficient urban mobility and public transport, affordable housing for the poor, power supply, robust information technology connectivity, governance, safety and security of citizens, health and education, and sustainable urban environment,” added Mayor.

“We have planned to spend Rs 9.91 crore to construct roads. Similarly, we have the plan to beautify six ponds in our municipal area with an estimated investment of Rs 8.66 crore. Rupees 1.25 lakh has been planned to spend on Purana Bandh Talab, Rs 85 lakh on Bholur Bandh, Rs 92 lakh on Nutan Bandh, Rs 82 lakh on Mayur Bandh and Rs 1.02 lakh would be planned to spend on the beatification of Budhi Bandh,” he added.

Recently CMC ranked 19th position in the entire country for cleanliness; declared the most clean city of Jharkhand. last year CMC was ranked 41th position in the country for cleanliness and was declared the second cleanest city in eastern India and the cleanest city of Jharkhand.

Chas also known as the satellite city of Bokaro district declared open defecation-free by the Ministry of Urban Development Government of India in February 2017.

The Corporation is first Municipal Corporation in Jharkhand, got the ODF status. “After two successive survey conducted by the teams of Quality Control of India, Chas got the status.

This is the result of all our efforts, its proud moment for us,” said the official.

Notably, defecation in the open was completely banned in Chas (Bokaro) on 22 December 2016 and section 133 of CrPC was imposed in a bid to achieve open defecation-free (ODF) status under the Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan (NBA).
