Monday, 26 November 2018 | PNS | BHUBANESWAR

The Infocity police on Sunday detained five students and registered two cases in connection with the group clash that broke out between two student groups of the KIIT University on Saturday allegedly over passing lewd comments to a student.

“Two cases have been registered in connection with this incident at the Info city police station. Based on the CCTV footage and inputs from students, action would be taken against the culprits,” said Police Commissioner Satyajit Mohanty.

While the KIIT authorities have vacated two hostels to avoid any untoward incident, they have clarified that sine die has not been declared yet and the classes of various schools are functioning normally.

Earlier on Saturday, students were seen hurling stones and attacking each other with wooden shafts in the university campus.

Sources informed that palpable tension was prevailing over the past few days owing to some lewd remarks made against a student.
