JIFFA 2019 to begin from today

Stars from the tinsel town will light up the three-day International Jharkhand Film Festival on Friday, which is set to screen at least 87 films from across the globe and potentially become the largest platform for film screening in the State till date.

Jharkhand International Film Festival Awards (JIFFA) 2019 will commence from Friday at Harivansh Tana Bhagat Indoor Stadium in Hotwar wherein both national and international films will be screened. The festival would also provide a platform for the filmmakers of Jharkhand to screen their movies for the veterans in their field to see.

Among the international films to be screened would be An Israeli Love Story and Acre Dreams from Israel, Inner Clock – To Be Yourself from USA, Ferrous from Nigeria and others. Besides, films from Maharashtra, Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Goa and many other states would be screened during the three day event.

Some on the interesting movies from Jharkhand to be screened include Phulmania, Why So Serious, Udne Do, Deva Rikshaw Wala among others.

Addressing media persons on Thursday, film director from Israel Dan Wolman said, “I have been to many international film festivals like Cannes and Berlin Film Festival, but I am very happy to be here at a new place and meet new people.”

Poland based actress Natalia Janoszek who had attended the first JIFFA held in 2018 expressed her enthusiasm to be a part of the festival again. “I enjoyed the festival last time and am eagerly looking forward to this one. I got a chance to meet a number of directors, actors and musicians last year and would love to meet more people this time,” she said.

The viewers at the film festival would also get a chance to see Janoszek, who is a wonderful dancer, to perform on her latest song which was released in Europe on the occasion of New Year. “People of Jharkhand would be the first in India to see my new song,” she said.

Among other stars to participate in the festival includes Israeli film actor Liraz Charhi, Hollywood film producer cum director Ray Khan, Bollywood actor turned director Arbaaz Khan, TV actor Iqbal Khan, actress Ratan Rajput and many others.    

A friendly cricket matches, of 12 overs each, between the teams of celebrity, government and media will be conducted on the second day followed by an award ceremony on the third day.

The film screening would be done on all the three days, at Tana Bhagat Indoor Stadium and two portable AC cinema halls having a seating capacity of 150 each.

The programme is likely to be inaugurated by Chief Minister Raghubar Das while Governor Droupadi Murmu will be the Chief Guest in conclusion ceremony.
