Nalco-LV Prasad Eye Hospital opened in Angul

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated a state-of-the-art eye care facility, “Nalco- LV Prasad Eye Hospital”, at Kulda in Angul district on Monday.

“The 30-bed eye hospital, which has come up at Rs 25 crore will provide treatment to all sections of people. Now, facilities are available for conducting 100 operations a day,” said Pradhan.

He expressed happiness that the hospital was completed in time in just three years since Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar had laid foundation stone in 2016. The hospital has come up on a 4-acre land with 35,000 sqft. built up area.

The hospital would provide free eye care services to residents of periphery villages of S and  P Complex and Utkal D and E Coal block, having identification cards. The treatment will also be free for BPL category families, residing in and around Angul district. A team of eye care specialists will provide comprehensive eye care for uncorrected refractive error, cataract surgeries, medical care of glaucoma and retinal diseases, diabetic retinopathy and ocular surface disorders, among other diseases, informed an official release.

Former Rajya Sabha Member Rudra Narayan Pani and Nalco CMD Dr Tapan Kumar Chand were present at the inauguration ceremony.

On this occasion, Pradhan distributed aids and assistive devices to senior citizens under the Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojna.
