OPJU records 91% campus placement

OP Jindal University, Raigarh, has set a benchmark in Chhattisgarh with more than 155 of its students getting offers from various national and multi-national companies during campus placement session 2018-19.

More than 65 Companies from different sectors such as steel, IT, telecom, aviation, banking, retail, civil construction, power generation, management, automobile thronged the university campus to recruit eligible students, the university said in a press release.

Terming the placement as remarkable feat to achieve, Dr R. D. Patidar Vice-Chancellor, OP Jindal University said, it has been a very encouraging and “positive season” this year.

“So far, 65 companies have come for campus placement for those students who are graduating in 2019. Top companies from Steel Sector-JSPL, JSW; IT Sector included TCS (Tata consultancy services), Wipro, Cognizant; while the core engineering companies includes JSPL, JSW Steel, Tata Motors, Airport Authority of India, Crescent Engineers, Chaphekar Constructions, conducted their campus placement drive at OPJU and selected engineering students,” the release said.

Core engineering companies were the main recruiters which picked up more than 91% students during the placement session.

“There has been surge in number of companies visiting university for campus placements which is an endorsement of the quality of education that we are imparting to our students,” the vice chancellor added.

Prof. Jyoti Nair, Director, Career Services, OP Jindal University added that, “The recruitment of Engineering and Management students touched new glory as more than 65 companies reached out for the recruitment of fresh talent during the campus placements.”

“Interbiz Consulting, Colabera, Pin click, Techment, Bigwig media pvt ltd, Just Dial, PieChain, MindTree, Appeal Group, BYJUS, D & H Secheron Industries Pvt. Ltd, Pin Click, Jayaswal Neco, Sunflag Iron & Steel, GSG  (Go speedy Go), Dixon, Eleation Services, Interbiz Consulting, MAAN Aluminum Ltd. and Cognixia were among the 65 companies which selected B.Tech. and MBA students from OP Jindal University,” Prof Nair said.

He further added that campus placements for 2018-19 registered a jump of over 40% as more than 20 MNCs have selected the students. The placement percentage on the campus is 91%.

The highest salary package offered was 7 lakh per annum, and the average was 4.75 lakh per annum.

According to Prof. Nair 40% students are placed in IT         consulting sector, 24% in      manufacturing, 22% in marketing, 11% in infrastructure and 3% in other sectors.

Talking about the pedagogy Dr P.S. Bokare, Dean School of Engineering, said, “The University has a good and advanced infrastructure. The quality of labs and classrooms is good.”
