The demand of Anushka Pandey’s parents for a CBI probe into the death of their daughter, who was found dead at a Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) on September 12, was finally forwarded by the Mainpuri district administration to the state government on Wednesday.
The parents were sitting on fast unto death demanding a CBI investigation into the  girl’s death.
On Wednesday afternoon, the District Magistrate of Mainpuri offered juice to Anushka’s father Subhash Chandra Pandey and assured him of forwarding the application for a CBI probe to the state government for action.
A student of class XI at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Bhogaon locality of Mainpuri, Anushka Pandey allegedly committed suicide in the prayer room of her hostel on September 16.  She left behind a suicide note accusing her hostel inmates for being responsible of her death.
The girl’s father lodged a complaint in this regard against principal, Sushma Sagar, hostel warden and a boy after which the police registered a case of rape and murder under POCSO Act.
During preliminary investigation, the police found that three years back, a girl inmate of the hostel had accused the victim of stealing snack. Later, at the behest of hostel warden, 48 students had slapped her one by one in order to teach her a lesson. After this, Anushka was being harassed every day. When her harassment did not stop, her father submitted a complaint to the school administration but no action was taken. The victim also mentioned the incident in her suicide note.
Anushka’s family alleged that the victim was brutally assaulted as they found injury marks on her body. They further claimed that their ward was a bright student and had secured 92.8 per cent marks in her high school exams and aspired to become a doctor.
