Your Best Guide to the AV Equipment You Need for Your Event

Whether you are a veteran at organising events and parties for your organisation or you are taking charge of an event for the first time, you may already know that you need the proper AV equipment for your event. The audiovisual aspect is particularly essential, no matter what kind of event you are having - regardless of if you are having a launch party at a big location or a small and intimate gathering in a hotel or meeting room. But this is where it can get a bit tricky, as you may be wondering what kind of AV equipment you need. The good news is, you are probably right in your ideas, but if you want more confirmation, here's your best guide to the AV equipment you need for your event – as well as how to properly set it up.

  1. A desktop or laptop computer

When you are planning an event with more than ten attendees or guests, then you need AV equipment, foremost of which is a desktop or laptop computer. The computer is necessary to hold and store whatever information you would like to present during your event, whether it's a presentation, a slideshow of photos for a birthday or wedding, or even music to liven things up. For many, using a laptop is better than a desktop computer because it is portable and easily transported and set up, but if you are going to have a more stable location such as an exhibition booth, a desktop computer may be a good idea as well.

  1. A microphone

Of course, microphones are essential, too, as any experienced AV hire specialist will confirm. And it's always better to have more than one. The microphone you have doesn't have to be a high-end model, but it should be good enough to handle prolonged use during your event and you should also be able to easily connect it to receiver equipment or speakers. If there are people who are making presentations at your event, you may also want to consider a microphone that can be pinned to a lapel or clothing so it won't be cumbersome to use compared to a hand-held microphone.

  1. A monitor

Another piece of AV equipment you need is a monitor, especially in this day and age. Even if you are already making use of a desktop or laptop, a monitor is still a good addition because it will be easier for your audience to see what you are presenting. Monitors are also great at bringing life to a video or presentation; just make sure you have all the necessary and required cables for connecting your laptop or desktop to the monitor, too.

  1. A projector

Projectors are another necessary element if you want your event to be one of a kind. This is particularly true if you are thinking of hosting a big event where a lot of guests or attendees will be watching something all at the same time. Your desktop or laptop screen should easily be connected to the projector, and your audience will appreciate being able to see and view everything you want them to see without having to strain themselves.
