5th JIFFA to begin today with screening of films from 32 countries

Fifth Jharkhand International Film Festival (JIFFA) will be organized in Ranchi on 17th and 18th December 2022. Hafizul Hasan, Minister of Art Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs Department of Jharkhand will inaugurate the festival on Saturday. Ministers of Jharkhand Government Mithilesh Thakur and Banna Gupta will be the Chief guests in the august presence of Prof. Tapan Kumar Shandilya, Vice Chancellor of Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee University and other dignitaries

Selected 53 films out of 134 films from 32 countries including India will be screened free of cost through 5 LED screens. On the occasion of the birthday of famous folk artist Bhikhari Thakur, on the evening of December 17, Rupantar Natya Manch, Gorakhpur will stage the play Kahan Bhikhari, directed by Sunil Jaiswal, focusing on Bhikhari Thakur.

Apart from 15 short and documentary films, films in Nagpuri, Khortha and Santhali languages of Jharkhand will also be the show cases on both the days.

On December 18, Governor Ramesh Bais will inaugurate the award evening at 6.30 pm and Chief Minister Hemant Soren will jointly honour the national and international participants as the chief guest. Nadiya Ke Paar fame Sachin, Rajpal Yadav, Mahima Chowdhary, and Smriti Sinha will be present at the award function.

Paritosh Tripathi, Actor Ankush Raja, Actress Shikha Malhotra, Miss United Nations Earth Anjil Marina Tirkey and IMPA President Abhay Sinha will be present on the occasion.

Mumbai's renowned acting skill trainer and casting director Praveen Chandra will conduct a two-day free workshop for aspirants. Bollywood artists including renowned actors from Jharkhand including Padma Shri recipient Mukund Nayak, Padma Shri recipient Madhu Mansuri Hasmukh and Sangeet Natak Akademi's only member from Jharkhand Nandlal Nayak will give presentation. The films were selected by Filmfreeway, a Canadian company of international repute. The jury members included renowned filmmakers Gautam Ghosh from Kolkata, Ajay Malkani from Ranchi, Dr. Ranu Sinha from the US and Amit Agarwal from Mumbai. Jharkhand's Art Culture and Tourism Department and Johar Entertainment Private Limited and Impa have got cooperation in organizing the event.

The press conference at Ranchi Press Club was addressed by JIFFA Executive President cum Spokesperson Sunil Singh Badal, Convenor Vinay Mehta, Co-Convenor Pankaj Kumar, Coordinator Sujit Upadhyay, Head of Celebrity Management Dr. Arif Nasir Butt and Satvik Anand.
