Saturday, 26 February 2022 | Rahul Sharma | Bokaro

Bokaro MLA Biranchi Narayan, who is constantly working to ensure speedy operation at Bokaro Airport made a joint visit to the airport and reviewed the entire status of making the Airport operational. During this review senior officers from BSL and Airport Authority of India were present and updated the current scenario on entire proceedings towards making the airport operational. Narayan specifically instructed to have immediate action at all levels to ensure the start of commercial flights within the time frame and he also assured to take up the matter at all Government level to overcome any constraints if at all prevailing so that the long awaited dream of Bokaro residents comes true.

Bokaro Airport Project In-charge Priyanka Sharma is toiling hard to ensure successful launch of Airport. Her efforts were also appreciated by the Legislator. Sharma said that the Project parameters, which were outlined in the MoU between SAIL & Airport Authority, are nearing completion and anticipated to get completed by March 31. In addition to this BSL representative said that License application is to be done entirely in an online mode. BSL had already started an online application process based on details, manuals provided by the Airport Authority. During the course of online application, additional technical information had to be filled up which BSL & AI coordinated constantly to get things accomplished. As a whole with the collective efforts of Local MLA, AI, BSL and Government, the application to DGCA for obtaining Licensing is under way and if all goes well one can expect Bokaro Airport operational between August 15 and October 2.

The airport is spread over 200 acres and its terminal building is being built over an area of 3500 sqm, while the runway is 1671 X 30 metre long. The work is almost in its final phase but still obtaining License from DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) is a matter of concern seeking various compliances.
