The 61st anniversary of the International Indecency Prevention Movement (IIPM) was celebrated in New Delhi in a simple and solemn manner. The 76th birth ceremony of IIPM founder late Shri Kumar Bhai was also observed during the occasion.
Hundreds of IIPM members, sympathisers and disciples of Kumar Bhai gathered at the premises of Shri Jagannath Temple in Hauz Khas to take part in the event. Earlier, a month- long worldwide celebration of IIPM’s Foundation Day had been inaugurated by Governor of Odisha Professor Ganeshi Lal at Sovaniya Sikhyashram in Cuttack on April 8. Kumar Bhai formed IIPM on his 16th birthday on April 8, 1962 with an aim to establish world peace, prevent indecency in society and develop decency in human life to make it happier, healthier, decent, lovable, blissful and peaceful.
An apostle of peace, humanism, reform and progress, Kumar Bhai had blessings of stalwarts like Rama Devi, Padmashri Dr Laxmi Narayan Sahu, Dr Pranakrushna Parija and Padmabhushan Kalindi Charan Panigrahi. Unfortunately, he expired at the age of 46 in 1993. Now Guruma Dr Arundhati Debi is taking up the cause of Kumar Bhai.
The ceremony commenced with the offering of flowers at the portrait of Shri Kumar Bhai and the lighting of ceremonial lamp by the distinguished guests. Addressing the gathering, chief guest, World Odisha Society chairman Kishore Dwibedi appealed to all responsible citizens to follow the path shown by respected Kumar Bhai and the noble mottos of IIPM.
Guest of honour senior lawyer Abani Sahu paid glowing tributes to Kumar Bhai and highlighted the relevance of his preaching to overcome negativity.
Chief speaker noted cyber security expert Dr Divya Tanwar cautioned about the emerging indecency due to the increase in cyber-crimes at an alarming rate.
Guest of honour Supreme Court lawyer Ram Avtar Sharma lauded the role of IIPM in spreading India’s rich culture and lofty value system.
Chief organiser, Vijayani Foundation president Reeta Patra presented vote of thanks. Other dignitaries who spoke included Byasadev Nayak, Pushpanjali Barik, Bibhu Sahu and Madhu Das. At the outset, IIPM theme song written by Kumar Bhai was played. Odishi dancer Samrudhi Mishra enthralled the audiences with her spectacular performance.
