5 IAS officers to run special campaign to check stray cattles on main roads

Five senior IAS officers including Additional Chief Secretary Home SN Mishra will run a campaign to control the stray cattle sitting on the main roads of the state. The state government has formed a committee and asked these five officers to submit a report in 15 days.

They will get the stray cattle removed from the roads by engaging people related to their department in this work. Earlier also, the government has done the work of including three senior IAS officers in the committee in the animal birth control program.

During the rainy season, cattle sit on the roads day and night. Due to this, the traffic on the roads is affected, and due to the uncontrolled speed of vehicles, many times cattle die untimely due to being crushed. The government has made an action plan several times regarding cattle on the road, but till now no plan has been effective.

Earlier in the assembly also, the MLAs have drawn the attention of the government towards this and demanded concrete measures from the government. The government has also issued instructions to the collectors to stop the incidents caused by stray cattle in Bhopal and nearby districts.

The new committee formed by the General Administration Department to run a campaign to prevent stray cattle from sitting on the roads has ACS Home SN Mishra as its chairman.

Other members of the committee include ACS Panchayat and Rural Development Department Malay Srivastava, Principal Secretary Public Works Department and Principal Secretary Animal Husbandry Department, while Principal Secretary Urban Housing and Development Department has been made the member secretary of the committee.

Earlier, the Mohan Yadav government has constituted a committee for the implementation and monitoring of Animal Birth Control Rules 2023 at the state level under the Animal Husbandry and Dairy Department. This committee has been formed on the basis of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1960 on the instructions of the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairy, Government of India.

The IAS officers include ACS, Urban Development and Housing, Commissioner Health, Commissioner UAD, besides two representatives of the Animal Welfare Board of India.
