Under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Ajai Singh, Executive Director, AIIMS Bhopal, the Department of Ophthalmology, AIIMS Bhopal celebrated World Sight Day on Thursday, 10 October 2024. On this occasion, Prof. Singh appreciated the efforts made by the departments and said, "The purpose of today's program is to make children aware of their eye care.

Healthy vision is essential for the future of our children. We should control their screen time and encourage them to play outside so that they can avoid problems like myopia." Such programmes play an important role in making people aware and educating them about eye care.

During this programme, the department organised street plays and health talks to explain the importance of eye health and vision among patients and their parents. This year's theme focuses on "Children Love Your Eyes", which emphasizes on keeping children's eyes healthy and improving their vision. In the programme, children were asked several questions to make them aware about eye care, and they were encouraged by giving gifts for giving correct answers.

Prof Singh further said, "According to WHO, reducing screen time and spending more time outdoors can help protect children's eyes.

The role of parents, caregivers and teachers is all important in this direction." At the end of the programme, all the attendees were given necessary tips for eye and vision care, which included advice to reduce screen time and visit a doctor for regular check-ups. On this occasion, Prof. Singh congratulated all the participants and said, "Eye awareness should be a lifelong commitment.
