Giving a push green mobility and better accessibility within the sprawling 213-acre All India Institute of Medical Sciences(AIIMS)here, the BSES is providing 27 zero-pollution electric buses to premier health facility.  The buses will provide free in-campus shuttle service.

This donation as part of its corporate social responsibility(CSR) underscores BSES' commitment to societal progress and environmental sustainability, enhancing transportation for patients, their families, doctors and medical staff across the massive campus, a BSES statement on Wednesday said.

This partnership between BSES and AIIMS will significantly reduce the carbon footprint within the campus, aligning with their shared goal to foster eco-friendly solutions for the welfare of hospital’s employees and the thousands of patients who visit the premier institution every day from across the country.

Under this initiative, the first set of 11 electric buses was flagged off on Wednesday by AIIMS Director M. Srinivas and the BSES leadership team. BSES Director and Group CEO Amal Sinha, Director on the BSES Board, V. S. Verma and BYPL CEO, Amarjeet Singh lead the BSES team. Senior BSES and AIIMS officials and doctors were also present on the occasion.

The remaining e buses will be progressively delivered by March 31, 2025. This effort exemplifies BSES' vision of powering not just 50 lakh homes but also hopes, dreams, and societal aspirations.

Of the total, 20 buses will serve patients and their families, while seven are designated for doctors and AIIMS staff, ensuring smooth and efficient movement within the hospital premises, which sees an average daily footfall of over 10,000 visitors. Commenting that BSES' commitment to societal progress extends beyond the supply of reliable electricity, a BSES spokesperson said, "At BSES, we believe in powering not just homes, but also hopes, dreams, aspirations, and societal progress. Our donation of electric buses to AIIMS is a testament to our ongoing efforts to integrate sustainability with social responsibility, providing innovative solutions that enhance the quality of life for the community and make Delhi a better place to live."

Over the years, BSES’ CSR initiatives have positively impacted lakhs of beneficiaries, with a significant focus on healthcare. Health remains a critical part of BSES’ CSR endeavors, touching the lives of over 20 lakh beneficiaries through various programs, including eye care camps, tobacco de-addiction camps, menstrual hygiene initiatives, and support for differently-abled individuals.

BSES’ commitment to health was further evident during the COVID-19 pandemic, when it led the way in donating oxygen concentrators, hand sanitizers, PPE kits and masks to Delhiites and healthcare workers engaged on the frontlines.

"AIIMS New Delhi is incredibly grateful to BSES for their generous donation of 27 e-shuttles. This significant contribution will greatly enhance the mobility of our staff and patients within the AIIMS campus, promoting a greener and more efficient healthcare environment. I applaud BSES for their commitment to sustainability and improving the well-being of our community," Prof. M.Srinivas Director AIIMS said while speaking on the occasion.
