Cutting off power, water for MLAs in Assembly a dark chapter in democracy: BJP

Thursday, 01 August 2024 | PNS | Ranchi

Bharatiya Janata Party today attacked the state government and the Speaker of the State Assembly while addressing a press conference at the state headquarters. State spokesperson Pratul Shahdev said that this government has written a black chapter in the history of the country's democracy today. Emergency was repeated in the assembly at the behest of the government. For the first time in the history of the country, the electricity and water supply of the assembly was cut off in the presence of MLAs. Even women MLAs were not spared. Restrictions were imposed on going to the toilet.

State spokesperson Pratul Shahdev said that in democracy, everyone has the right to protest. But the way the government showed its Hitler-like face today is shameful. Pratul said that the assembly runs with the support of both the ruling party and the opposition. But this government has captured the assembly and made it a government assembly. The leader of the opposition was sitting on a dharna in the house to get a statement from the Chief Minister on issues like unemployment allowance of contract workers, para teachers, assistant policemen, computer operators, Anganwadi workers, assistants, five lakh jobs per year, CBI investigation of examinations, etc. The leaders of the House go out and get electricity and water supply cut off by being dictatorial.

Pratul said that the post of Speaker is a constitutional post. But in Jharkhand, the Speaker has become a tool kit of the government. This government has crossed all limits by filing cases and lawsuits against the youth, unemployed and BJP leaders. He said that this government had announced free electricity and water and this government cut off electricity and water supply in the presence of MLAs in the assembly.

Pratul said that the three and a half crore people of Jharkhand are watching the misdeeds of the government and will never forgive it. Spokesperson Ramakant Mahato, State Co-Media Incharge Yogendra Pratap Singh were also present in today's press conference.
