Security forces in Gumla achieved a big success as they destroyed about 35 IEDs, foiling the plans of Naxalites.

Naxalites had planted these IEDs on the road to target the police. First, 5 IED bombs were recovered from the under-construction Kutma-Bamda road, which were later defused by the bomb squad and Jaguar police team on Friday night. At the same time, about 30 IED bombs have been recovered from the Harinakhad area, which were defused on Saturday. There has been a stir in the area due to the discovery of IEDs. The search operation is still on.

According to the police, the villagers saw a wire coming out of the ground in the village, they immediately informed the police about it. After which Gumla police called the bomb squad from Ranchi. The police squad reached the village with the team and investigated. Where about 5 can bombs were recovered and defused. Even before this, bombs buried in the ground have been recovered in many villages of Gumla. Many people have also been injured by these bombs.

Gumla SP Shambhu Kumar Singh, confirming the incident, said that a large quantity of can bombs have been recovered, more recovery is expected. The team has returned on Friday night due to security reasons. He said that the team will reach the village on Saturday as well and conduct a search operation. It will also be investigated how old the bomb planted is.

The villagers said that the activities of the Naxalites have stopped for some time, due to which the police were claiming the area to be Naxal-free. Last year also, the police and villagers came under the grip of IED bombs in this area. Also, earlier Naxal sub-zonal commander Budheshwar was also killed in a Maoist-police encounter. This area used to be a safe zone for the Maoists.
