Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, a multidisciplinary university, made a strong impression at the Emerging Science, Technology and Innovation Conclave (ESTIC 2025), held from 3 to 5 November at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan. Organised by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) under the guidance of the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India and in collaboration with 12 key ministries and departments — DBT, CSIR, MoES, ICAR, ICMR, MeitY, DoT, AYUSH, DoS, DoAE, DRDO and MoE — the conclave served as a major national platform for sharing scientific achievements and technology-driven innovations, aimed at advancing the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated ESTIC 2025 in the presence of distinguished scientists, including Nobel laureate Professor Andre Geim from the University of Manchester, along with policymakers and innovators from India and around the world. In his inaugural address, Modi reiterated the nation’s collective resolve towards Viksit Bharat 2047, emphasising that the 21st century marks a period of unprecedented transformation. He said the global order is undergoing a major shift and that the pace of change today is not linear but exponential.
With this mindset, he added, India is advancing in all areas of emerging science, technology and innovation with unwavering focus and commitment. Modi also highlighted the establishment of the National Research Foundation to promote research and innovation in universities, alongside the launch of the Research Development and Innovation Scheme, backed by a budget allocation of `1 lakh crore. Amrita’s exhibition stall showcased innovative technologies and research prototypes in healthcare, artificial intelligence, renewable energy, sustainable
agriculture, robotics and drones, climate resilience and other high-tech areas. It attracted top scientists, bureaucrats, industry veterans, researchers, innovators and global visionaries. During the panel discussion on Artificial Intelligence, Professor P Venkat Rangan, Vice Chancellor of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, said, “Artificial Intelligence enhances human intelligence and address large-scale societal challenges such as healthcare delivery, disaster prediction, education and sustainable development. At Amrita, we aim to make sure that AI research not only advances technology but also improves humanity through ethical and compassionate application.”
