Assam to host CRPF’s annual parade for the first time

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) to hold annual parade first time in Assam in Febraury 2026. Director General Gyanendra Pratap Singh called on Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma at Lok Sewa Bhawan, Dispur on Thursday, where an initial discussion was held regarding the upcoming Annual CRPF Parade, to be held for the first time in Assam and the Northeastern region, in Guwahati.

The meeting was attended by Dr Ravi Kota, Chief Secretary, Assam; Harmeet Singh, DGP, Assam Police; and Dr KK Dwivedi, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister. The CRPF’s Annual Parade in Guwahati marks a historic first for the region, underscoring Assam’s growing prominence in national security and the CRPF’s enduring bond with the people of Assam.

Through his visit and subsequent engagements, the DG CRPF reaffirmed the Force’s deep commitment to honouring its Bravehearts, standing steadfast beside their families and his strong bond with the people of Assam. On Wednesday DG GP Singh visited Kuwari Ati village in Nagaon district, Assam, yesterday to pay homage to Veer Balidani Head Constable (GD) Mahendra Laskar of 60 Battalion, CRPF, who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.

After courageously battling for his life at Apollo Hospital, Rourkela, HC/GD Mahendra Laskar attained martyrdom, succumbing to injuries sustained in an IED blast during a crucial anti-Naxal operation at Babudera–Samta Axis, Jharkhand, on October 10, 2025. The DG CRPF offered floral tributes at the martyr’s ancestral home and met the Veer Nari, Veer Putra and bereaved family members, assuring them of the Force’s unwavering support. He also sought blessings from the martyr’s mother for the continued success of anti-Naxal operations.

Later, speaking to the media, the DG said, “Havildar Mahendra Laskar sacrificed his life for the country on October 10, 2025. As per the tradition of the CRPF, I have come here to pay my respects to the family and to ensure that whatever is due to them is provided by the Government and the CRPF. The entire CRPF family stands with the family of the martyr and whatever is required in the future, we will continue to support them.”

On the ongoing campaign to end Left Wing Extremism in the country, the DG shared, “We are committed to eliminating Naxalism by March 2026, as announced by the  Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The CRPF is committed.”  Earlier, condolences had poured in from the Chief Minister of Assam, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma and the Assam Police, honouring the Braveheart’s sacrifice. The Chief Minister said the nation would forever remember the hero from Nagaon, while the Assam Police extended heartfelt condolences and reaffirmed solidarity with the CRPF fraternity.
