On the last day of her three-day campaign for the Bihar Assembly elections, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta made a strong pitch for the NDA. She said that “the villains of corruption will now go to jail, while the inept will spend their time holidaying abroad.”
She addressed four public meetings on Thursday in Warisaliganj, Sherghati, Dehri, and Karaghar. She said that the NDA represents “development, security, and stability”, adding that the era of jungle raj was over.
“Bihar is now moving ahead on the path of comprehensive progress,” she said, expressing confidence that the NDA would secure a decisive victory.
The Delhi Chief Minister said the people of Bihar are “wise and self-aware” and will choose a government that delivers. She credited the progress of the past two decades to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. “The growth Bihar has seen in the last 15 to 20 years has been possible only under their guidance,” she said. Accusing the opposition of corruption, she asked what “moral right” such leaders had to seek votes. “Those whose hands are stained with scams have looted the poor and the farmers,” she said. Referring to the fodder scam, she said some leaders “even stole from cattle” and “betrayed the dignity of women” during their time in power.
Continuing her attack, she said, “This is Bihar; here, only those who win the people’s hearts are true leaders. The villains of corruption will now end up in jail.” She added that those who mislead the public “are neither the well-wishers of the people nor worthy of respect.” She also criticised the Opposition for neglecting development and public welfare. “While the people of Bihar fight for their rights, these inept individuals are busy vacationing abroad,” she said.
The Delhi Chief Minister said the NDA Government has placed Bihar firmly on the path of development through new hospitals, airports, and hundreds of train services. “If such work had begun earlier, Bihar would never have fallen behind,” she said.
“During the Jungle Raj, the state lost its way in the darkness of lanterns. It has taken years of effort to bring Bihar back to light. That effort must continue.”
The Delhi Chief Minister also spoke of the emotional bond between Delhi and Bihar. “I come from Delhi, but I can say with full responsibility that when Bihar progresses, Delhi celebrates. And when Delhi prospers, blessings come from every village of Bihar, from the mother whose son works in Delhi, and from the father whose family lives there,” she said.
She assured Bihari families living in Delhi of her continued support. “As your elder sister, I will always stand with you to ensure safety and dignity,” she said.
Ending her campaign with an appeal to voters, the Delhi Chief Minister urged them to back continuity and progress. “Bihar’s pace of growth must not slow down now. The coming days will decide the state’s destiny, and that destiny must be one of growth, stability, and pride,” she said.
