Upping the ante over the alleged Pune land scam involving deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar’s son Parth Pawar, Maharashtra Congress president Harshavardhan Sapkal alleged on Saturday that Parth purchased Rs 300 crore worth of land by paying a mere Rs 500 as stamp duty, after a proposal to build an IT park on this land was “hastily approved”.
Talking to media persons at Tilak Bhavan, Sakpal demanded to know as to why the name of Parth Pawar was “missing” from the FIR registered by the police in connection with the land scam and why no action was being taken against the deputy chief minister’s son.
“Parth Pawar purchased 40 acres of Mahar Watan land in Pune for Rs 300 crore but paid only Rs 500 as stamp duty. The proposal to build an IT Park on that land was hastily approved, and large-scale alterations were made to the documents,” Sapkal said.
“Now, after the scam has been exposed, they are claiming that the land deal has been cancelled — which is an open admission of guilt. So why is no action being taken? Why is Parth Pawar’s name missing from the FIR?” Sapkal asked. Charging that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’ decision to order an inquiry into the alleged land scam involving Parth Pawar was nothing but a tactic to waste time, Sapkal said: “The money for these transactions came from a sugar factory. Who gave the money? How was it routed? People need to get answers. Forming an inquiry committee is nothing but a tactic to waste time.”
The State Congress chief also alleged that Parth Pawar’s company, Amedea, had earlier grabbed Government land belonging to the Agriculture Dairy at Bopodi in Pune, using forged documents”.
In another serious allegation, Sapkal said that Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol of the BJP had grabbed the Jain Boarding land in Pune. “Once the matter came to light, the transaction was cancelled, but the issue is far from over. The Charity Commissioner involved in the case is a relative of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis — what action was taken against him?” Sapkal asked.
Demanding a white paper on the questionable land deals in Mumbai and Pune, where plots worth crores were allegedly “being grabbed at throwaway prices”, Sapkal said: “In Mumbai, hundreds of acres of land was given away free to Adani. Government land was also allotted for the BJP’s Mumbai office. Fadnavis’ protégé Mohit Kamboj has been granted SRA land.
“A massive scam has taken place in Pune’s ring road land acquisition, and people deserve to know who really prospered from the Samruddhi Mahamarg project. Hence, a white paper on all land transactions must be published,” Sapkal said.
Charging that the BJP-led Mahayuti Government was “thick-skinned and shameless” to the core, the State Congress chief said: “Every day a new scam surfaces, yet no action is taken. People in power and their relatives have set out to loot the state”.
