A significant step was taken today to bolster the National Capital Region’s standing as a hub for advanced research and development, as a high-level delegation from Gautam Buddha University (GBU) met with Dr Lokesh M, Chief Executive Officer, NOIDA (New Okhla Industrial Development Authority).
NOIDA and GBU have reached an agreement, in principle, to collaborate on establishing two major Centres of Excellence at the GBU campus:
1. Centre for Semicon Research and Technology (CSRT): Focused on
cutting-edge research and innovation in the critical field of Semiconductor technology.
2. Centre for Drug Discovery and Development: A specialised facility with an initial focus on research related to Cancer treatment and novel drug development in Biotechnology.
This collaboration is poised to be a game-changer in establishing the NOIDA area as a premier RandD centre, fostering innovation and creating high-skill job opportunities. The GBU team at the meeting included Dr Vishwas Tripathi, Registrar; Professor Rajiv Varshney, Dean Academics; Dr S Dhanlakshmi, Dean School of Biotechnology; Dr Rekha Puria, HoD School of Biotechnology; Dr Vidushi Sharma, HoD School of Electronics and Communications; and Dr Mangal Das, School of Electronics and Communications. Both NOIDA and GBU are committed to continuing their discussions to finalise the funding patterns, which will solidify the foundation for these centres. The GBU team will also provide feedback from relevant stakeholders and clarity on the revenue model to ensure the long-term sustainability and success of the initiative.
