The Assam State Commission for Women (ASCW), under the leadership of Chairperson Angoorlata Deka, launched the “Biswas Jatra”, a Statewide motorcycle rally aimed at promoting women’s safety, dignity and empowerment. The rally was flagged off by Dr Ravi Kota, IAS, Chief Secretary, Assam, at the Arjun Bhogeswar Barua Sports Complex, Sarusajai, Guwahati, at 8:00 am. The event was graced by Devajit Saikia, Advocate General of Assam, Mukesh Sahu, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Women and Child Development and Gaurishankar Sarma, Director, Department of Women and Child Development, along with Government officials, social media influencers.
Organised by the Assam State Commission for Women in association with Sankalp Hub and the Department of Women and Child Development, Government of Assam, Biswas Jatra is a unique outreach initiative designed to spread awareness on gender equality, prevention of violence against women and the welfare schemes available for women and girls across the State.
