The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) on Tuesday imposed third phase of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) in Delhi-NCR. The air quality dropped from very poor to severe on Tuesday reaching 428. Under GRAP-III there is a ban on construction and demolition activities in the NCR region while schools go in hybrid mode, among other emergency measures.
Meanwhile, CPCB has been delaying publishing AQI data. The data, which is usually updated by 4 pm every day, was delayed by several hours on Tuesday. On Monday, the data was updated after 11 pm. Officials did not provide a reason for the disruption.
The air quality, which was in the “very poor” category for the last several days, deteriorated further on Tuesday morning due to stagnant weather conditions and local emissions. This is the first time in 2025 that Delhi’s air quality has entered the “severe” zone.
