Delhi man held in TTD ghee scam
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) laddu ghee adulteration case arrested Delhi-based trader Ajay Kumar Sugandha (A-16) for supplying chemicals used to make adulterated ghee linked to Bholebaba Dairy. The SIT found Bholebaba Dairy never produced milk but still managed to supply over 68 lakh kg of ghee to TTD. Tests by NDDB CALF revealed the ghee was largely palm-based oils mixed with chemicals like beta-carotene and acetic acid ester to mimic genuine ghee. Investigators noted that TTD’s 2024 tender price of `319.80/kg was unviable for pure ghee.
