The Indian Army on Monday reported that ‘hostile activities’ are taking place along the Line of Control (LoC) in the frontier district of Rajouri.
The brief statement was made by the Nagrota-based White Knight Corps on Monday after General Officer Commanding 16 Corps Lt-Gen Navin Sachdeva paid a surprise visit to the forward areas to take stock of the prevailing security situation along the LoC in Rajouri.
Meanwhile, in a fresh incident of cross-LoC firing one army jawan was critically injured in Rajouri district on Monday.
According to official sources, an army jawan was hit by a stray bullet when he was standing guard in the Kalal area of Nowshera.
The injured soldier was evacuated to a nearby military hospital for advanced treatment.
Earlier on February 8, a patrol party of the Indian Army came under fire from across the line of control with Pakistan in the Keri sector of Rajouri. A high alert was sounded in the area and massive searches were launched to prevent any fresh infiltration bid from across the LoC.
At least seven members of the Border Action Team (BAT) of the Pakistan Army comprising heavily armed terrorists and Pak army regulars were killed in a powerful landmine blast in the Battal area of Mendhar in Poonch late Tuesday night (Feb 4, 2025).
Without identifying those behind the ‘hostile activities’ White Knight Corps in a post on X said, “GOC White Knight Corps, along with GOC Ace of Spades and GOC Crossed Swords divisions visited forward areas of the Rajouri sector for an operational update on the prevailing security situation and the hostile activitiesâ€.
The post, shared by the White Knight Corps on its official social media handle, said the corps commander complimented all ranks for their vigil and relentless operational focus. He also urged them to remain prepared for all contingencies, the Army said. Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police (Jammu), Bhim Sen Tuti, conducted a high-level review meeting on the operational preparedness in the districts of Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban on Monday.
The review was held at the Range Police Headquarters, Batote in Ramban with senior officers discussing in detail the strategic deployment of forces, police said.
During the meeting, IGP assessed the security situation, operational readiness, and response mechanisms.
The focus was on ensuring the effective coordination between various security agencies and police forces deployed in the area to maintain law and order, as well as to combat potential security threats, a police spokesperson said.
He said emphasis was placed on countering emerging security challenges, improving surveillance, and enhancing coordination between field forces and the intelligence network.
The IGP Jammu also discussed strengthening the logistics support, patrolling, and preventive measures to thwart any potential incidents, the spokesman said.
