BSL shines at National 5S Workplace Management Convention

Thursday, 19 June 2025 | PNS | BOKARO

The Quality Circle teams of Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) have once again demonstrated their commitment to excellence by delivering a remarkable performance at the national convention on the “5S Workplace Management System,” held at KLN Engineering College in Madurai. The event was organized by the Quality Circle Forum of India (QCFI) and witnessed participation from several reputed organizations across the country.

BSL’s contingent consisted of 14 Quality Circle teams, out of which 11 teams were awarded the prestigious Par-Excellence Award — the highest category of recognition at the convention — while 3 teams received the Excellence Award, the second-highest honor. This stellar performance significantly enhanced BSL’s reputation at the national level.

The teams that received the Par-Excellence Award included Team Jigyasa from the PEB department; Teams Gautam, Kshitij, and Roopantar from BGH; Team Radiance from the Hot Strip Mill; Team Udyog from Heavy Maintenance; Teams Prayas and Stambh from CRM-III; Team Sankalp from ETL; Team Pragati from CO & CC; and Team Srijan-Jyoti from the Traffic department. The Excellence Award was conferred on Team Aakarshak from the Town Administration Water Supply section, Team Himalaya from HRCF, and Team Karna from RCL.

These teams had earlier proved their mettle in the in-house “Director-in-Charge 5S Trophy 2025” competition organized by BSL’s Business Excellence Department. Their outstanding performance in the internal evaluation qualified them for participation at the national level. The Business Excellence Department also played a key role in preparing and facilitating the teams for the convention.

BSL’s top management lauded the efforts of all the award-winning teams and praised their dedication to promoting a culture of effective workplace management. Their contribution towards strengthening the implementation of the 5S system within their respective departments is seen as a significant step in enhancing operational efficiency and organizational excellence.
