Cancer & the Worship of Maa Baglamukhi

Maa Baglamukhi is the eighth Mahadevi among the revered Dasha Mahavidyas. Also known as Peetambara, the Goddess draped in yellow, she is the divine force of Stambhana - the power to immobilize negativity, stop harmful influences, and bring obstacles to a standstill. It is believed that every wave, every vibration in this creation finds its stillness through her presence.

Among all the forms of Shakti sadhana, Maa Baglamukhi’s worship is considered the most powerful, result-oriented, and spiritually intense. She is the goddess of strength, protection, and victory - not just over external enemies, but also over inner fears and diseases. In this sense, even a relentless illness like cancer is an “enemy” that Maa can subdue.

Her worship is especially advised for those who feel trapped by fate, battling severe life challenges, or facing chronic and incurable health conditions - especially where medicine seems to have reached its limit.

According to spiritual tradition, Maa Baglamukhi manifested on the night of Chaturdashi, which fell on a Tuesday - a day ruled by Mars (Mangal). Mars holds dominion over blood, muscles, and aggression in the body. This makes Maa Baglamukhi's energy particularly potent in neutralizing diseases associated with Mars, including various forms of cancer.

In the human body, red and white blood cells play key roles - white cells are governed astrologically by the Moon, and red by Mars. In astrology, the Cancer zodiac (Karka Rashi) is linked with white blood cells, where Mars is debilitated, suggesting vulnerability when Mars is afflicted. Cancer, the disease, is believed to stem from imbalances in this fiery planet - especially when it interacts negatively with other planets.

Different types of cancer show specific planetary disturbances:

Breast Cancer: Mars + afflicted Venus

Lung Cancer: Mars + afflicted Moon

Colon Cancer: Mars + afflicted Mercury

Prostate Cancer: Mars + afflicted Venus

Skin Cancer: Mars + afflicted Sun

Thus, Mars is central to the biological and astrological understanding of cancer. When accompanied by malefic influences, the disease may manifest in areas linked to the afflicted planet.

However, before beginning any spiritual discipline, it's essential to analyze the individual’s horoscope. The Moon should not be positioned in the 4th, 8th, or 12th houses. Also, the placement of the 6th lord (Rogesh), 8th lord (Ashtamesh), and 12th lord (Dwadashesh) must be considered, as they govern disease, chronic conditions, and hospitalization respectively.

For effective spiritual healing, the devotee should:

Sit before Maa Baglamukhi’s Yantra

Chant the Baglamukhi Sahasranam (1000 names)

Take a sankalp (spiritual vow) specifically for relief from disease

Offer prayers in complete surrender and devotion

But most importantly, this sadhana must not be undertaken casually. The energy of Maa Baglamukhi is fierce and transformative. Therefore, one must always consult an experienced spiritual practitioner or sadhak, who can guide on:

Where to perform the worship

How to do the rituals correctly

When (the auspicious muhurat) to begin

And what precautions must be observed during the process

Through faith, correct method, and divine guidance, Maa Baglamukhi’s grace can bring not only strength but a powerful shift - even against something as overwhelming as cancer.
