Delhi Congress on Sunday issued a list of 12 candidates for upcoming MCD bypolls in the national capital. The party fielded Mukesh from Mundka, Sarita Kumari from Shalimar Bagh-B, Vishakha Rani from Ashok Vihar, and Ajay Kumar Jain from Chandni Chowk.
According to the party, Kunwar Shehzad Ahmed will contest from Chandni Mahal, Sumita Malik from Dwarka-B, Rashmi Sharma from Dichau Kalan, and Manoj Tanwar from Naraina. While Suresh Chaudhary has given a ticket from Sangam Vihar-A, Vikram from Dakshin Puri, Shikha Kapur from Greater Kailash, and Vinay Shankar Dubey from Vinod Nagar, the party stated.
Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav said that party has selected the 12 candidates for the by-elections to the MCD wards after careful consideration, keeping in mind the candidates’ popularity among with people in their respective wards, past performances in various party posts, and above all the candidates’ acceptability and winning chances.
He claimed that the party has given opportunity to candidates from various strata society with the main consideration being their track record in social service and party work and their winning chances, particularly those who have the drive and dynamism to influence the voters by projecting Congress’ party’s initiatives for the welfare of the people, as the BJP Government in Delhi has done nothing for the city over the past 8 months, to emulate the corrupt model of AAP’s 11 years of misrule.
