Calling on people to purchase local products, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday announced that the Delhi government will promote local industries, crafts, and products in every district on the lines of ‘One District One Product.’
Making this assertion after inaugurating the three-day the Swadeshi Utsav organised by DSIIDC, she said Swadeshi movement is far more than a symbolic appeal.
“These campaigns are not limited to diyas or handicrafts — their purpose is to give Indian brands global recognition across every sector. The time has come for us to take pride not in foreign labels but in our own creations. Let us wear, use, and celebrate Indian products, and say with pride — ‘This is my Indian brand,” Rekha Gupta said.
She also said, “Every Indian must recognise the ‘industrial soldier’ within — one who protects the nation’s economic frontiers through hard work and dedication.
On the quality of products, Rekha Gupta said, “When ‘Made in India’ becomes a mark of excellence and trust, India will truly be worthy of being called Vishwaguru — the leader of nations.”
Recalling India’s resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic, she said, “When the world came to a standstill, India not only met its own needs but extended help to other nations — setting a remarkable example of self-reliance and solidarity.”
The Chief Minister also announced that the Delhi Government will promote local industries, crafts, and products in every district on the lines of ‘One District One Product’, with the aim of giving Delhi a distinct industrial identity and ensuring national and international recognition for its homegrown brands.
She said “Buying Swadeshi products this Diwali is not just an act of economic support — it is an expression of patriotism. To adopt Swadeshi is to serve the nation in its truest sense. Let Delhi be illuminated by the light of Swadeshi.”
Industries Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said “Under the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Delhi Government is driving a powerful movement to promote Swadeshi across the city. At India Gate today, more than 100 stalls are showcasing India’s entrepreneurial strength — including 11 enterprises under the PM Formalisation of Food Processing Enterprises Scheme, two stalls from Tihar Jail, self-help groups, and artisans from across the country — all living the resolve of adopting Swadeshi.”
The Swadeshi Utsav 2025 will continue till October 11, featuring 100 exhibition stalls for MSMEs, artisans, SHGs, ODOP exporters, women & SC/ST entrepreneurs, Food courts serving traditional Indian cuisines, daily cultural performances showcasing India’s artistic and cultural heritage and panel discussions with experts from CII, ASSOCHAM, FICCI, SIDBI, Chamber of Indian MSME, and other industry leaders.
