A 30-year-old man’s death at his in-laws’ house in Kolar on Friday has sparked controversy, with his family alleging that he was poisoned, while his in-laws claim he committed suicide. The police are yet to determine the exact cause of death.
The deceased, Rahul Deshwali, a resident of Ganesh Nagar, Misrod, had gone to his wife’s maternal home in Kolar when his health suddenly deteriorated, leading to his death. His father has alleged that Rahul was murdered by mixing poison in his alcohol, while his in-laws insist he consumed poison himself.
SHO Sanjay Soni stated that Rahul's health deteriorated after arriving at his in-laws’ house, and he was taken to the hospital, where he was declared dead. His body was handed over to the family after post-mortem, but the exact cause of death remains unclear as statements from both families are yet to be recorded. The case is under investigation.
According to Rahul's father, he was married to Sushma, a resident of Kajlikheda, Kolar, in 2021. The couple frequently had disputes, and five months ago, they welcomed a son, Veeransh. He further claimed that three months ago, Sushma’s sister’s husband took her to her maternal home without reason, and she had been staying there since. Rahul had repeatedly tried to bring her back but was allegedly beaten and turned away each time.
On Friday afternoon, Rahul left to bring Sushma back. However, later that night, his family received a call informing them that he was unwell and being taken to the hospital. Staff reporter n BHOPAL
