The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) on Tuesday sealed the city’s popular Appu Ghar amusement park, located in Sector 29, over non-payment of outstanding property tax amounting to Rs 7,43,50,299.
Despite repeated notices, the operating firm — International Recreation and Amusement Limited — failed to clear the dues, prompting the corporation to take strict action. A team led by Zonal Taxation Officer BS Chhokar reached the site and sealed the premises after completing the legal formalities.
Officials present during the drive said that no institution or property owner defaulting on tax payments would be spared. MCG Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya stated that ensuring strict compliance with property tax regulations remains a top priority for the corporation.
“Despite multiple reminders and notices, the firm did not deposit the dues, leaving us with no option but to initiate sealing action,” he said.
He added that similar action would be taken against other properties with pending dues. The commissioner emphasised that property tax revenue plays a crucial role in funding the city’s development works, sanitation services and infrastructure improvements.
“The property tax recovery campaign will now be further intensified to ensure that development activities in Gurugram are not hampered,” Dahiya said, urging all taxpayers to deposit their dues on time and contribute to the city’s progress.
Meanwhile, in Manesar, Mayor Dr Inderjeet Kaur Yadav and Commissioner Ayush Sinha inspected the fleet of garbage collection vehicles on Tuesday. They reviewed the technical setup, GPS systems, and the overall quality of equipment.
Commissioner Sinha directed representatives of the waste management agency to ensure full compliance with the contract terms, stating that 183 vehicles must be deployed for household waste collection — including 132 Tata Ace vehicles, 37 e-rickshaws, 9 tractor trolleys and 5 Tata trucks for transportation to dumping sites.
A total of 338 workers are engaged in the operation. The commissioner also instructed that all vehicles must be GPS-enabled, equipped with separate partitions for wet and dry waste and ensure installation of RFID tags in 1.10 lakh households to strengthen the city’s door-to-door waste management system.
Apart from this, Manesar Mayor Dr Inderjeet Kaur Yadav also inaugurated various development projects worth around Rs 1.5 crore in Wards 17 and 18.
Mayor Yadav said that the voters of all wards have entrusted her with the power of their votes, and she will strive to live up to their expectations.
Ensuring equal development across all wards remains a top priority for the municipal corporation, she added.
