UP Budget session from today Yogi stresses on raising public interest issues

Tuesday, 18 February 2025 | PNS | Lucknow

The Budget session of Uttar Pradesh assembly is set to begin on Tuesday. Ahead of the session, an all-party meeting chaired by Speaker Satish Mahana was held at Vidhan Bhavan on Monday. In the meeting, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stressed on raising public interest issues.

The chief minister, who is the leader of the House, urged parties to work collaboratively for the smooth functioning of the House. He called on the leaders of opposition parties to contribute to the development of the state by engaging in healthy discussions on public matters.

“As public representatives, it is our responsibility to ensure that all matters concerning public interest are debated smoothly in the House,” the chief minister said. He urged all members to ensure that there are no obstacles in the proceedings of the House.

Chief Minister Yogi also asked for a detailed debate on the Maha Kumbh mela in Prayagraj.

Speaker Satish Mahana also appealed to all members to cooperate for the smooth conduct of the session.

Present at the meeting were Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, Finance Minister Suresh Khanna, leader of opposition Mata Prasad Pandey, Congress Legislature Party leader Aradhana Mishra, Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party MLA Bedi Ram, and Vinod Saroj from Jansatta Dal Democratic Party, among others.

Leader of opposition and Samajwadi Party leader Mata Prasad Pandey said the opposition party would raise all important issues concerning the interests of the common people.  He said the Samajwadi Party would focus the attention on issues like inflation, unemployment, law and order and interests of the students and farmers.

He alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party had made huge promises in its election manifesto (Sankalp Patra) but the government did nothing to fulfill those promises.

The leader of opposition remarked that the chief minister desires a debate on Maha Kumbh mela but “the government has nothing to showcase”.

Pandey said the government had claimed to provide facilities of global standards at the Maha Kumbh mela, but the stampede at Prayagraj and hardships faced by the common people and pilgrims had exposed its tall claims.
