The Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company ltd (CSPGCl) achieved major milestone in electricity generation with one of the 500x500 MW units of Madhwa-Tendubhata Thermal Power Project going on stream in the district on Tuesday. The commissioning of the unit would now help Chhattisgarh in making itself self-reliant in power generation, officials stated.
CSPGCl Managing Director S B Agrawal stated that the Madwa-Tendubhata project is Chhattisgarh’s first super thermal power project. “This is in fact a green field project and such projects are set up in regions where the basic infrastructure required for setting up the power plant are developed from scratch,” he said. The project is expected to consume an estimated 20,000 tonnes of coal per day, Agrawal stated.
