Mussoorie winterline festival from Dec 25

Apart from performances by noted folk singers, the folk dances and traditional games of Uttarakhand will also feature in the third Mussoorie winterline festival 2015.

As part of efforts aimed at attracting tourists to Uttarakhand by publicising the winterline festival to be held later this month, the Dehradun chief development officer Alok Kumar Pandey and sub divisional magistrate of Mussoorie, Swati Bhadauria held a Press conference at the Chandigarh Press Club.

Addressing the media, the CDO said that the third edition of the Mussoorie winterline festival will be held this year from December 25 to 30. He informed that noted folk musicians of Uttarakhand will be giving performances in the winterline festival this year. Among the folk artistes, noted Jagar singer Basanti Bisht, popular folk singer Narendra Singh Negi and noted singer Pritam Bhartwan will be major attractions for visitors to the festival.

The folk dances and traditional games of the State have also been included in the event this year. He further informed that to make the winterline festival more attractive for a broad spectrum of  public, the varied performances slated for the event include performance by playback singer Mohit Chauhan, qawwali programme by Nizami brothers, magic show by renowned magician NC Sarcar, Kathak dance performance by Arushi  Pokhriyal who is the daughter of Haridwar MP and former chief minister of Uttarakhand Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’.

In addition to these, popular humorous poet Surendra Sharma will entertain the visitors apart from Rajasthani folk dance performance, staging of Mahabharata by artistes of Bharatnatyam academy and a rock band show expected to enthrall the visitors. Addressing the media, the Mussoorie SDM Swati Bhadauriya informed that in addition to the stated events, various programmes have been planned considering the recreational preferences of various age groups.

These activities include a puppet show, recreational games, couple dance for adults, photography competition, art exhibition, cultural programme, mountain biking and other aspects of adventure activities. Bhadauriya requested the residents of Chandigarh to visit the Mussoorie winterline festival for an enjoyable experience.
