Committed to lighting up dark spots around Metro stations: Jain

Delhi Public Works Department (PWD) minister Satyendar Jain on Wednesday said he is committed to light up the dark spots around metro stations in the city, said an online platform for social change. 

In a statement issued by change.org, the PWD Minister is quoted as saying that a survey would be commissioned by the Delhi Government with a special focus on the dark spots around DMRC stations.  

The action came as city-based architect Bhavya Singh shared her stalking experience near Nehru Place metro station in March and launched a petition on the online platform. She met Jain at his office on Tuesday.

“I have taken note of Bhavya Singh’s campaign regarding the dark spots around metro stations in Delhi. I want to assure that the issue of women safety remains a top priority for our government,” the Minister was quoted in the statement.

He said the work on lighting up the dark spots within a kilometer radius of metro stations would be expedited.
