‘Int’l Gita Mahotsav has brought fame and global recognition to Kurukshetra’

Haryana Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Krishan Kumar Bedi on Sunday said that International Gita Mahotsav has brought fame and global recognition to Kurukshetra.

“The International Gita Mahotsav will be organised from December 7 to December 23 in which Mauritius will be the partner country and Gujarat will be the partner State.”

“The State Government has given International status to Gita Jayanti so as to bring it on the world map,”  Bedi said while speaking at the flagging off ceremony of International Gita Mahotsav (IGM) Run 2018, organised by Kurukshetra Development Board and Department of Sports and Youth Affairs in Kurukshetra.

Local MLAs and senior officers were also present during the marathon.

The Minister also reviewed the ongoing preparations for Gita Mahotsav at Brahm Sarovar and directed the officials to make some improvements.

During this IGM Run 2018, in 6 kilometer race of boys, Ashok Kumar from Karnal who bagged first position, has been awarded with Rs 31000, Reenu Kumar of Meerut (2nd position) Rs 21000 and Ravinder Kumar of  Lucknow (third Position) has been awarded with Rs 11000.

The Minister urged all the officers, teachers and people to motivate and invite people to take part in International Gita Mahotsav.

“This year Gita Mahotsav would be celebrated in a grand way. This Mahotsav should be celebrated by all the people as it is their own Mahotsav and they should make efforts to invite more and more people to this event,” the Minister added.
