Ex-Haryana CM Hooda asks party workers to gear up for 2019

Friday, 16 November 2018 | PNS | Chandigarh

Former Haryana Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Thursday asked his party workers to gear up for next year’s polls to oust the Manohar Lal Khattar Government in the state from power.

Hooda while addressing a meeting of party workers here also asked them to be present in large number at the seventh phase of his ‘Jankranti Yatra’, which will start from Barwala in Hisar, on November 25.

“Polls (Lok Sabha) are round-the-corner and it should not come as a surprise if they (ruling BJP Government) decide to go for holding the Vidhan Sabha polls along with the Lok Sabha elections next year,” he said.

Haryana assembly polls are scheduled to be held in October 2019.

The two-time former Chief Minister also accused the ruling BJP of not keeping its promises made to the people in Haryana.

“The State Government has failed to fulfill its promises dashing hopes of the public. It has failed on all fronts and now people are eager to bring the Congress back to power,” Hooda said.

When asked to comment on recent developments in the INLD and the Chautala family, the senior Congress leader said he had always maintained that the main opposition party is the BJP’s “B team”. I don’t want to comment on their family and internal matters, he said.

“However, the struggle for power in the INLD has unmasked their true face. It is clear that they only want to grab power and do not care about people’s issues,” he added.
