Friday, 06 April 2018 | PNS | Ranchi

Principal Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Nidhi Khare today said that the government will keep strict vigil on the activities of Ultrasonography Clinics in State.  During the launch of PCPNDT website Garima Jharkhand  at IPH, Namkum on Thursday, Khare said that the website will help online monitoring of the ultrasonography being done in the State.

The Principal Secretary said that every USG clinic has to fill up a form online every month and it will pave way for district level and State level monitoring of its activities. The website will help the common man be aware of the provisions of the PCPNDT Act and the people will be able to give information to related officials of the government about violations of the Act.

Khare, on the occasion, gave instructions to all Civil Surgeons of the State to follow the Act strictly and expressed concern over the decreasing sex ratio in the State. She said that the sex ratio between 0-6 years was also decreasing and the phenomenon is not only prevalent in urban areas but also rural pockets of the State.

The number of USG clinics is on the rise but people are misusing the technology in greed of money, she said instructing the civil surgeons to regularly check USG centres in their districts. She warned officials of stern action if they are found guilty of lethargic approach towards their duty.

At the district level Civil Surgeon and other officials can manage information on the website and common people can get detailed information about the PCPNDT Act. The CS and other officials can know the number of USG clinics and names of doctors and their area of service etc. According to a survey done for the website there are several doctors in Jharkhand who are rendering their service in more than one USG clinic at the same time.

During the year 2017-18 cases were filed against five USG clinic owners and eight such clinics were sealed. There are 742 registered USG clinics in the State out of which 195 are in Ranchi. The sex ratio in the State in 930/1000 while for 0-6 years age group it is 948.
