The Income Tax department raided the offices of various property dealers and builders in Rishikesh on Wednesday. On the directions of the chief commission of income tax RK Gupta and principal commissioner of income tax Suniti Srivastav, the additional commissioner of income tax (Rishikesh) Neeta Agrawal led the raids on the offices of the property dealers and builders in Rishikesh.
According to information received from reliable sources, businessman Gopal Sati’s office was raided.
In addition to this, the offices of other businessmen linked to him including Sanjay Vyas, Ravi Agrawal and Saurav Bansal were also raided by the income tax department teams.
Sources, further, informed that the raids were conducted because actual income was not shown in the income tax returns. The department officials expect to ascertain tax evasion though the actual assessment would be finalised after investigation.
It should be mentioned here that the income tax department has conducted high level raids in Rishikesh after quite some time.
