Preacher Yasobanta Das' death anniv observed

Jagatsinghpur: Fifteenth-century poet and great preacher Mahatma Yasobanta Das’ death anniversary ‘Odhanasasthi’ was observed in late poet’s workplace at Yasobanta Pitha in Adhanga village under Biridi block in Jagatsinghpur district. The Odisha Sahitya Akademi organised this State-level function. Akademi Member SK Chhualasingh chaired the meeting attended by Dr Saileswar Nanda, Baba Dibakar Das Maharaj, Askhya Kumar Das, who said Yasobanta had dedicated his life to Lord Jagannath and was a spiritual guru and a poet. The Yasobanta Sanskrutika Bikash Kala Anushthan coordinated the function.

Teacher dies in road mishap in JSpur

Jagatsinghpur: Sanskrit teacher Dhirendra Nath Patra of the Sarala Academy, Tirtol was killed in a road mishap on the Sarala Road- Kanakpur road. While he was returning to his village, his bike collided with another bike coming from opposite direction. He sustained serious injuries. He was sent to the Manijanga hospital and later to Cuttack, where he succumbed to his injuries.

OPGC conducts emergency mock drill

Jharsuguda: The OPGC Ib Thermal Power Station conducted an emergency response mock drill on toxic gas release in its plant premises on Saturday. An onsite emergency mock drill on chlorine gas release and rescue operations were held with participation from all the emergency response teams. This is a part of mock drill exercise the OPGC conducts twice a year to ascertain the preparedness in case of any emergency in the plant. Asst Director (Factories & Boilers, Jharsuguda) Anil Kumar Nanda witnessed the mock drill.
