Paint Toilet, Win Prize contest to focus on ODF

Paint Toilet, Win Prize’ - a competition is going to be organised in Chandrapura block of Bokaro district on 19 November, on World Toilet Day.

 On the directive of Bokaro Deputy Commissioner MK Barnawal this competition is scheduled to be organised in Dudga North Panchayat by the Khushboo Kumari (Panchayat Head), said BDO S Murmu. 

 “Our aims to make individual aware about cleanliness and hygiene prevailing in their respective surroundings and work towards solving the same through their voluntary participation,” he added.

 All total 232 beneficiaries of the panchayat are going to participate in the competition. All of them are on move to decorate their toilets, he said adding “especially children are enthusiastically taking part in making the attractive painting on the walls,” added Murmu.

 Best three of them will get cash awards of Rs 2100, Rs 1100 and Rs 500 respectively for beautifying and maintaining their toilet very well, he said.

Recently, Murmu along with Kshushboo Kumar, Bhaskar Kumar, Sanjay Kumar, Nirbhay Kumar, Amar Kumar inspected all of the toilets of the Panchyat.

 As our mission Swachh Bharat, enters into its fifth year, the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation is instituted ‘Swachh Bharat World Toilet Day Contest 2018’ for all districts in the country to re-intensify the sanitation people’s movement with a special focus on ODF Sustainability, said  Khshboo.

 Recently, Chas (Bokaro) got the open defecation-free (ODF) status in the third consecutive year; Last year Chas become the first municipal corporation in Jharkhand to get the status.

 Chas the satellite city of Bokaro district declared open defecation-free by the Ministry of Urban Development Government of India, informed JP Yadav, Executive Engineer Chas Municipal Corporation (CMC).

 Notably, defecation in the open was completely banned in Chas (Bokaro) on 22 December 2016 and section 133 of CrPC was imposed. Amidst all Chas becomes the first municipal corporation in Jharkhand to get the ODF status 16 February after two successive surveys conducted by the teams of Quality Control of India, Chas got the status. This is the result of all our efforts, its proud moment for us, said an official.
