Police nab vehicle lifter, recover scooter, Rs  10,000

Habibganj police have nabbed a vehicle-lifter from 5 number bus stop and recovered a stolen scooter worth Rs 10,000 from his possession on Saturday.

According to the police, acting on a tip off a youth was detained and when he was asked details regarding the vehicle which he failed to provide and confessed that the two-wheeler was stolen one.

The nabbed accused was identified as Rohit Patel (22). In the initial investigation police have recovered one scooter from his possession which was stolen from Commercial Tax department at Bittan Market on October 15.  Accused was trying to sell the vehicle but was not able to find customer who could purchase vehicle and before he could sell the vehicle he was nabbed by the police. The miscreant is a resident of Banganga area.

Police said that the friends and family members would be questioned in the investigation which could help in obtaining more details of earlier crimes and involvement in other crimes.

During the investigation police have not found that the accused used to target scooters parked at busy market places and would sell them at low price. Crime record of the miscreant would be searched in the further investigation.

Police said that the miscreant has stolen vehicles from different parts of the city and details of the stolen vehicles which were disposed would be investigated. Accused has disposed stolen vehicles with the help of accomplices and police have started search for other accomplices who have helped the accused in stealing and disposing the vehicles.
