Rahul to shoot more barbs at Modi

Wednesday, 26 September 2018 | PNS | Lucknow

A day after strong protests by BJP workers over his remarks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi with regard to Rafale jets at Amethi, Congress chief Rahul Gandhi again launched a tirade against the PM claiming that in days to come, more corruption issues would crop up against the ‘chowkidar’.

“This is just the beginning. More interesting things will come up in the next 2-3 months. The PM’s role in controversies like Rafale, Lalit Modi, Vijay Mallya and demonetisation was questionable,” Rahul said while addressing party’s social media volunteers at Forest guesthouse at Amethi. “We are presently raising the issue of Rafale jets and, in the near future, we will rake up other issues to disclose the nexus of the country’s chowkidar with top industrialists, who colluded to rob the public,” the Congress chief stressed.

Earlier on Monday, Rahul had targeted the PM over Rafale jet deal and demanded a JPC probe into the issue.

On the second day of his visit to Amethi on Tuesday, Rahul attended a Janata Durbar at Forest guesthouse in Musafirkhana (Amethi) and later attended a meeting of district vigilance and monitoring committee at Gauriganj. Before the Congress chief reached Gauriganj, there was a clash between BJP and Congress workers near the Collectorate. Irate BJP activists standing on the roads near Collectorate raised ‘anti-Gandhi’ slogans and showed placards and were promptly asked by Congress workers to leave the place. This led to the two groups coming to a head. The police brought the situation under control by caning and chasing the warring workers.  After attending the meeting at Gauriganj, Gandhi took a flight to New Delhi from Fursatganj airport, Rae Bareli.
