Security heightened on Odisha border

After the killing of an MLA and a former MLA of Andhra Pradesh by Maoists in Visakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh on Sunday, security has been beefed up on the borders of Odisha.

IG of Police Operations RP Koche said Central forces like BSF and CRPF and the Special Operations Group of Odisha have been asked to remain on high alert.

Police stations on the border areas in the Maoist-infested districts have been instructed to remain vigilant.

Sources said that after the killings of the lawmakers in Andhra Pradesh, it is apprehended that Maoists might sneak into Odisha.
