Successful ‘Pulmonary Embolism’ of a 24-year-old

The doctors of the Cardiac department at Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital claimed to have saved the life of a patient by carrying out timely procedure. Now the young man is absolutely fine and he has been discharged from the hospital, the hospital sources said in a release issued on Monday.

As per the release, 24- year-old Mahesh Chandra Kuniyal, resident of Devsthali Mandoli, Chamoli district, was brought to the emergency of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital on July 30.

Mahesh while walking on the road had a sudden fall as a result of which he sustained injuries on the head and some other parts of the body.  As he was brought at the hospital he was found to be suffering from some heart problem. During initial investigation at the hospital’s emergency, the patient was diagnosed with injury over the head. E.C.G. and some initial tests revealed that there was a clot of blood near the heart of Mahesh.

This is called ‘Pulmonary Embolism’, the doctors at the hospital said and added that after   the Echo and CT Scan were carried out CPR was also done and simultaneously interventional procedure started. 

Dr Tanuj Bhatia, D M (Cardiology) and Cath Lab director informed that the most significant finding in the case was ‘Pulmonary Embolism’ which is very rarely encountered in young age.

It must be written here that it has been a great achievement for the medical fraternity here.
