Tale of ‘Bhagirathi’ comes alive here

Thursday, 18 October 2018 | PNS | Ranchi

Based on the Hindu mythology’s major incident -- the Shiva and Ganga episode, Sangram Club Puja Samiti of Ranchi has adorned the puja premises depicting the tale of ‘Triveni Sangam’. From the incident when Ganga emerged on this land to the present condition of this holy river considered to be the ‘Soul of India’, the puja pandal is divided into different parts explaining the occurrence of this historic incident over each year.

The puja pandal primed up with the use of biodegradable materials like foams, clay, terracotta, plaster of paris, cotton materials etc has been festooned at the cost of Rs 10 lakh. Special light effects combined with sound technology are presenting a realistic approach to the concept.

One of the most prominent Puja pandal of the State capital has modeled its concept based on the mores of Hindu prodigy, making it the only puja pandal showcasing a mythological event. To augment the entrance gate design, the creative hands have replicated the conventional Rajasthani design crafted out on ply boards. Keeping the intrinsic background alive, too much decoration has been avoided by the artists to keep up with the natural ambiance pace here.

Designed covering a huge area, theme has been divided into three different segments. The big draw at puja pandal is an audio-visual display inside the pandal setup unfolding the tale of Shiva and Ganga.

“Prepared by the local artisans, maximum work has been done using terracotta and sand. Handmade miniscule art work has been inked on plywood keeping the mythological design in mind,” said, president of Sangram Club, Ajay Kumar Gupta.

“In three months, a complete backdrop of the theme has been prepared here involving 100 creative hands in the task. The attire of Goddess has been designed keeping the traditional style,” added Gupta.
