The Government of Madhya Pradesh will soon be transferring patwaris who have been continuously posted at one place for many years. This was stated by Govind Singh Rajput, Minister of Revenue and Transport, Government of Madhya Pradesh during his visit to the city on Sunday.
The minister said that the government is preparing a list of such patwaris who have been staying at one place for a long time through their connections and settings.
The minister opined that their exclusive control over land and other records and documents for a long period of time multiplies the chances of corruption leading to hardships for the common man.
The minster also said that patwaris will not be allowed to act as feudal agents. He added that it has also been come to the notice of the government that in many areas one patwari is looking after more than one quarter (halka). The minister said that this practice will soon end and that from now onwards one patwari will be in charge of only one halka.
According to the minister this will facilitate better land survey and relief distribution to the public, especially the farmers and the economically weaker sections. The minister also said that the priority for the patwaris must be survey of crops and the distribution of relief to the affected farmers.
The minister further said that Lok Adalats will be held at the District and Tehsil level from the month of February to assist the public in settling disputes and other related matters.
The minister also said that the government is fully committed to road safety, especially that of the children and will take all steps to improve the traffic system in the city. He warned the school and college bus operators to strictly adhere to the Supreme Court directives in this connection or else face the consequences. Rajput further said that the government will take steps to improve the current rural transport system.
