A five-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a youth under the Kujang police station in Jagatsinghpur district on Sunday.

The matter came to the fore after the victim’s family members filed an FIR regarding the incident with the Kujang police.

As per the complaint, the accused youth abducted the minor girl while she was playing near her house. He took her to a secluded place and sexually assaulted her.

Family members searched for her frantically and later found her in a critical condition.

Acting on the complaint, cops launched a manhunt to nab the culprit and apprehended the accused subsequently. While the accused and the victim would be sent for a medical examination, the accused is being interrogated, police sources said.

In another incident, in Sundargarh district, police arrested two minor boys in connection with the rape of a minor girl under the Tangarpali police station in Rourkela on Sunday.

As per the complaint lodged by the victim’s family members, the girl was allegedly raped on July 31.

Acting on the complaint, police initiated a probe into the matter and arrested the accused. While the accused minor boys were sent to a children reformation home, another accused youth is still at large, sources said.

In yet another such incident, in Mayurbhanj district, a divyang girl was raped in a forest in the Kathachua area under the Sarat police station.

A youth had kidnapped the girl when she was alone in her house and taken her to a forest, where he allegedly raped her.

Though the incident took place on July 31, it came to fore after the mother of the victim lodged a complaint in the connection with the Sarat police on Saturday.

Cops detained the accused for questioning and further investigation was underway.
