Saturday, 20 April 2019 | PNS | Jamshedpur

The police are yet to arrest Babulal Soren, who had allegedly escaped a checking after misbehaving and manhandling with cops at a checking point in Jadugora on Thursday. Babulal (32), son of former minister and JMM-Congress alliance candidate for Jamshedpur Lok Sabha seat Champai Soren, is  absconding after the police registered a case against him following the ruckus with the cops in Jadugora police station.

OC, Jadugora police station, Rajiv Ranjan said that they are searching Babulal and they will arrest him. "We are conducting search operation, but Babulal Soren is absconding," said Ranjan.

The clash with police took place when special search team led by executive magistrate Pradeep Purty near the UCIL Hospital was checking vehicles.  In this connection, the magistrate has lodged an FIR with the Jadugora police station, leading the police to register a case of manhandling and preventing the government officials from carrying out their duty against Babulal and the SUV driver.

In the FIR, the executive magistrate has stated that he was assigned to carry out special checking in Jadugora police station area.

"After an SUV came, the cops accompanied me waived to stop the vehicle.  The SUV stopped, but the driver had instantly started shouting at us that whose vehicle you all are trying to stop.  Do you know he is son of Champai Soren, Seraikela legislator, JMM leader," Purty has stated in the FIR.

As he was stopped, Babulal came out of the SUV and introduced himself as the son of Champai Soren.  He had also allegedly threatened the checking to get dismissed from service as he is son of Champai Soren.

When the cops wanted to check his vehicle, he thrashed them and even stopped the official who was covering the act of checking by videography.  Then he got into the SUV and sped away toward Ghatshila.

Babulal in a WhatsApp message claimed that he had no ruckus with any checking team. "I respect the law.  When a checking team had stopped my vehicle for checking, I did not protest at all and allowed the team to check my vehicle.  I went ahead only after the checking was through," Babulal said in the message.
