The Central Industrial Security Forces (CISF) personnel Umesh Pandey, Assistant Sub-Inspector on Tuesday saved a woman passenger who tried to commit suicide by jumping on the road from the Foot over Bridge (FOB) at the InderLok Metro Station.
The incident took place at around 5:30 pm on Tuesday evening at Inderlok metro stations that falls on the Red and Green Lines as an interchange station of Delhi Metro. The station is the terminal for the Green Line to Brigadier Hoshiyar Singh metro station, which is located in Bahadurgarh district of Haryana.
“During a routine anti-sabotage/routine sweeping of station premises at Inderlok metro station, I noticed a noticed a woman passenger aged about 21 years old was trying to on road from foot over bridge (FOB) with an intention to commit suicide. As soon I found the woman suspicious and distressed trying to commit suicide, I caught her and pulled her back before she took the step to end her live,” said Pandey adding meanwhile, her husband also reached on the spot.
The woman was identified as a resident of Muradabad Uttar Pradesh. “The woman and his husband were later taken to the Station Controller Room for counseling where the couple revealed that due to conflict/family dispute between the couple, she took that step,” said CISF personnel.
After counselling, the said passenger was handed over to Delhi Metro Rail Police (DMRP) for further investigation.
As per the CISF official, a total number of 49 suicide cases were registered in the year 2018 in which five lives were saved by CISF official while in 2019 the suicide attempts went to a toll of 13 up to March in which two were saved by CISF.
